What We Believe

BIBLE: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 The Bible is the Word of God, absolute truth in all matters. It is our rule book and guide.

GOD THE FATHER: “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9 There is only one true and living God. A Supreme Being perfect in every way and is the only proper object of worship. He reveals himself in nature and in the Scriptures.

JESUS CHRIST: “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17 God’s unique Son. In His divine nature, He is God and in His human nature He is man. Perfection offered Himself freely as a sacrifice for man’s sin and opened the door to salvation through faith. He not only died for our sins; but, He arose for our justification and ascended up to heaven, where He is the only mediator between God and man, making intercession for us until He comes again.

HOLY SPIRIT: “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.” Acts 1:4 A gift from God, indwelling in all who have faith. He guides, informs, teaches, reproves, inspires and sanctifies the believer. The Holy Spirit is one with the Father and one with the Son; therefore, these three are one God.

THE INCARNATION OF CHRIST: “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched-this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 1John 1:1

REPENTANCE: “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2Peter 3:9 The call of the Gospel offered equally to all, demands a deep conviction of sin, a deep sorrow due to sin and an open confession of that sin to God requesting forgiveness. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”

FAITH: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8 Acceptance of the Gospel under the influence of the Holy Spirit with a firm confidence and trust in Christ produces obedience. The power to believe is the gift of God, but, believing is a human act and is required as a condition for pardon and without it the sinner cannot obtain salvation. Those who believe become children of God through faith.

TITHING: “And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies unto your hand. Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.” Genesis 14:20 Both the Old and New Testament teach tithing as God’s financial plan for the support of His work.

JUSTIFICATION: “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” Romans 4:25 Everyone is guilty of sin before God. The atonement of Christ, offered on our behalf, if accepted by faith, pardons the sinner and absolves us from the guilt and restores our relationship with God.

PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1 Paul tells us to stay in the race, avoiding sin, remaining obedient to God. Although, God has promised us divine grace to support us, He respects our free will and never interferes with our decisions. This guarantees genuine love which is the only love appropriate for Almighty God. Therefore, by choice, the believer, just like a third of the angels, can fall from grace by rejecting Jesus Christ.

THE LORD’S DAY: This is one day in seven, which from the creation of the world God has set apart for sacred rest and holy service. Under the former dispensation, the seventh day of the week, as commemorative of the work of creation, was set apart for the Lord’s day. Under the Gospel, the first day of the week, in commemoration of the resurrection of Christ, and by authority of Christ and the apostles, is observed as the Christian Sabbath. On this day all men are required to refrain from secular labor

1. The World: God created the world and everything in it for His pleasure and glory and the enjoyment of His creatures.

2. Angels: God created the Angels to glorify Him and obey His commandments. Those that have kept their first estate He employs in ministering blessings to the heirs of salvation and executing His judgments upon the world.

3. Man: God created man as body and soul. At salvation man receives the Holy Spirit. He was made in the image of God to glorify his Maker.

4. Primitive Man and His Fall: Our first parents, in their original state, were upright. They naturally desired to obey their Creator, and had no inclination to transgress His will until they were influenced and disobeyed God’s commands. After the fall of man, he was not willing to obey God; but, rather was inclined to evil and had no natural goodness in him. Man is incapable of becoming a child of God except by the blood of Christ through redemption he becomes created anew (born again) unto obedience through the work of the Spirit. This is freely provided for every descendant of Adam.

REGENERATION: “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 Man is a sinful being and must be changed. This work is done by the Holy Spirit at salvation. We pass from death into life and partake of the divine nature. This is called being “born again.”
